At IYASU, we advocate conscientious consumerism over fast fashion. By making ethical choices in fashion, like creating vegan & recycled doctor’s bags, we protect the environment and the people who are involved in creating the products.
That is why our luxury vegan medical bags are 100% vegan. We also use only recycled plastics that are ethically produced without harm to the world, people or animals.

WHY VEGAN LEATHER?
With many people now making a concerted effort to cut down on their meat consumption for environmental reasons, it makes sense to reduce the amount of animal leather that we wear.
Livestock farming and deforestation to create land for feed crops are 2 of the world’s greatest contributors to climate change. These activities increase production of harmful greenhouse gases such as methane and carbon dioxide and utilise precious resources of fresh water. In addition, destruction of rainforests leads to loss of biodiversity.
So, the decision to create our luxury medical bags with vegan materials was an easy, and obvious, one to make.

LEATHER TANNING
In order to turn animal skins into leather, you need a variety of toxic chemicals, including formaldehyde, coal-tar derivatives, heavy metals such as chromium, and cyanide-based dyes. It is an energy-intensive process that uses vast quantities of water.
Additionally, chemicals in the effluent contaminate local fresh water sources. That’s why people who work in the tanning industry or live nearby suffer from significantly higher rates of cancer, such as lung cancer and leukaemia, than the general population.
Although leather is argued to be “biodegradable”, the process of tanning actually stops the leather from biodegrading by stabilizing the collagen or protein fibres.

RECYCLED PLASTIC BOTTLES
The linings of our bags are made from RPET (Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate), a material made from recycled plastic bottles.
By opting to use this recycled material, we are supporting recycling companies in their sustainability efforts. By using vegan and recycled materials, we help reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in landfill. Additionally, we help reduce the consumption of coal and gas required to make plastic in the first place.
